Welcome

Dear fourth grade families,
I am so excited to be at MacArthur Elementary. I have been teaching since fall 2020 and I couldn't be more proud to say that I am a MacArthur Mustang. My classroom is full of growth and dreams for the future. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to be the best version of themselves.

Parents and family members are always encouraged to be involved with our learning. I believe open lines of communication between the parent and teacher are key to promoting an educational climate that is conductive to learning. If you ever need to reach me regarding your child, feel free to send me an email. I am occupied with your children, so I will get back to you as soon as I am able. I love supporting your children inside and outside of school, so please invite me to their games, competitions, musicals, etc. I am looking forward to working with you and your child; together we can make a difference!

I graduated from Park University in Parkville, MO with a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education. Throughout my years in college I have been involved with many community service events. Such as collecting school supplies for students in need and donating over 400 backpacks a year to those in my community that cannot afford them otherwise. Over my summers I have traveled the world to El Salvador and Japan to help teach students reading and math. I also enjoy working at Disney World over summer breaks and visiting the parks throughout the year.

I believe that every child wants to learn. I believe, for proper growth, students need an engaging environment: walls filled with inspiring, thought provoking, and educating quotes stimulating the students. Everyone learns differently and I try to tap into each students personal style for how they learn best. One way I do this is by getting to know each student and what they are interested in. I believe that everyone needs to have his or her basic needs met in order to learn. Most of all, my students will feel safe: safe to express their ideas, safe to think and to try, safe to explore and try new things.

My students will learn, respect, and exhibit the importance of community, individuality, and curiosity. Through collaborative groups, they will learn from what each other has to bring, and develop skills that they might never have even knew they possessed. I want them to know; sometimes failure is the greatest of teachers. I want them to feel free to constantly be questioning and experimenting.
